“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you”
    (John 15:12)

In John 15, Jesus talked about both love and prayer . I want to exercise this message through the “cord of three strands” prayer meeting. "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”  Holding on to Ecclesiastes 4:12, our church has been tying a ‘cord of three strands with prayers’ through prayer meetings. This year as well, we will have the ”cord of three strands” prayer meeting from August 16th (Monday) to August 21st (Saturday) early in the morning.

Each year we have had around 30 people show up for the prayer meetings. The elderly participated and filled up the front rows of the sanctuary, while our children took up the back end.  The elderly in the front row set examples for the ones behind; the children following along in the back learned how to pray while watching them. As we reached the end of prayer meetings, we were full of gratitude. We were thankful that we could pray, that there was a God’s family with whom we could cry, laugh and pray together.

I think it is more correct to say that it is a cord of “four” strands prayer meeting because Jesus is holding our hands as well. I hope that through the prayer meeting, our daily joy will become Jesus’s joy, our pain will become His pain, His laughter will become our laughter, and His tears will become our tears.  Jesus is always at His work to this very day. I hope that we too are working with Him with prayer. I hope that we will get to know Him more and be more like Him through prayer.

For those who cannot participate in the in person prayer meeting, we will arrange online meetings as well. Through this prayer meeting, I hope that Heaven’s power, hope and joy will all join together in a  river of life, and flow in between us. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing,  let’s share the same hope and not lose the respiration of prayer.

We  will blow away our constrictors and the dregs of our soul through the prayer meetings. I hope that we can do a spiritual stretch and take a deep breath. I pray that the hope of the cord of three strands, the hope that is not broken so quickly, will tie around our Hanmaum church and lead us.
